Why Not Tell A Tall Tale?

General Procedure

  1. Each contestant shall give a five to seven minute speech.
  2. Contestants must prepare original Speeches, meaning the use of material which is original with the speaker, Independent and creative treatment of a Subject or a fresh approach to a Familiar subject.
  3. To be a Tall Tale, the narrative must be a tale that has a beginning and Ending in the real world, probably with Fantasy and fiction in between.
  4. All contestants will speak from the same platform. Contestants may wear clothes appropriate to the occasion or to the theme of the speech.

 

Eligibility

  1. Contestants must be a member of a District 42 Toastmasters Club in good Standing.
  2. Contestants must have won prior contest At Area and/or Division competition Levels leading up to District Competition.

 

Timing

  1. Timing shall begin with the first word Uttered by the speaker. A green light will be turned on at five minutes, amber light at six minutes, and a red light at seven minutes, remaining on until the speaker concludes. No audible device will be sounded.
  2. Lights must be visible to the speaker at all times, but not to the audience.
  3. A speaker is disqualified for Speaking less than 4.5 minutes or more Than 7.5 minutes.
